Cyndi Recommends...
San Francisco & Bay Area LOCAL Events
Here are some of Cyndi's Recommendations
for great Local Events - they will be an assortment of interesting
/ new venues to check out, invigorating
activities or good performances. It is compiled to provide and acknowledge
activities, people, events that I think worthy of attention
and things that I enjoy doing. All are open to friends,
associates, and out of town visitors.
Come, enjoy, add your enthusiasm and appreciation. Show up on your own and meet folks
with similar interests or grab some friends to share. Some
events will be intimate, small gatherings, others will aim
to attract a large gregarious crowd. Hopefully there will
be a nice variety of good things to do around town that
you'll want to drop in on a regular basis.
We'll look to widely expand the repertoire
and scope of upcoming Local Events! Check
often as new events are added as we find them. Also email
me on other things going on that you feel are worthy of
attention and would like to see others participate in! I
look forward to sharing these experiences with you!
MAY 2010
SAVE Angel Island Wine Festival
Start: May 1 2010 12:00 pm End: May 1 2010 3:30 pm
Angel Island State Park “The Jewel of San Francisco Bay” is threatened with closure due to a shortfall in revenue and the state deficit. Vino Moda and the Angel Island Wine Festival is asking Bay Area residents as well as visitors from California, the U.S., and the world to demonstrate how important parks are to our lives. When was the last time you visited Angel Island? Have you taken the tram ride, toured the island on a segway, bicycle, or by foot? Have you visited the Angel Island Immigration Station since the $15 million remodel that was just completed in February? You can take a ferry, dock your own boat, or evenpaddle a kayak to get there.
Wine Lovers can show their support by attending the Angel Island Wine Festival at Camp Reynolds. This is undoubtedly the “world's most beautiful wine festival” on the Angel Island shore with breathtaking views of Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco skyline, and Belvedere Island. Vino Moda has partnered with Angel Island State Parks and Angel Island Company among others.

Don't miss San Francisco most Historic Foot Race!
99th Annual ING Bay-to-Breaker 12K
May 16th, 8am
It's a return of one of the largest and oldest footraces. The legendary 7.46 mile race stretcehs from teh Embarcadero near the Ferry Building (bay) to Ocean Beach (breakers). It features world calls athletes as well as the zaniest, fun loving and costumed runners of all ages.
At this point, Bay to Breakers has a reputation that precedes itself. For 99 years, locals and tourists alike have flocked like mosquitos to bright blue lights for a chance to take part at one of the most intriguing and diverse events in the entire country. While some prefer the less-than-honest method of just crashing the event and leaving a trail of trash and fecal matter in their wake... as good members of the community who live and breathe San Francisco, we should all make an effort to officially register for Bay to Breakers, because needless to say - this event isn't cheap to produce. The costs of staffing police, shutting down streets, cleaning up after the litter bugs, etc... ends up costing the organizers toooooons of money, and if we want to ensure there's another century of wild and wacky fun for our offspring to enjoy the way we have, it's important to make a small contribution to the folks making it happen. If you'd like to check out the "99 Reasons to Register" from the Bay to Breakers website, click here http://ingbaytobreaker...
